Persons seeking a name change while divorcing. Typically simplified procedures are available. Similarly, if you are only correcting a first or middle name, you MAY not need to go through the court-ordered process. Contact the Office of Vital Records in the state where you were born, for information about name changes that can be obtained without going to court. Additionally, persons who have been convicted of a felony, have claimed bankruptcy, or have a lien or financial judgment filed against them should not use this product. In such cases, a licensed attorney should be contacted.
